Samhain

Grandfather Ceremony

Overnight, Sat, 31st Oct, 7pm

with Sofia Buchuck & Guest Musicians

Samhain, celebrated on the evening of October 31st, marking the end of summer and beginning of winter and is associated with communing with the ancestors, sacred fire and a time to harvest what we have learnt throughout the summer months and how to harness its powerful seasonal energy as we enter the winter months.

Reclaiming the I AM — NUKAQ KANI, We gather in this powerful portal of Samhain, where magic meets reality, to return to the centre of love, pray for humanity, and welcome a new time of sacred transformation from within. Together, we honour the ancestral medicines and wisdom of the Moche-Chimú traditions and the sacred teachings of the Andes. We gather with love, deep respect, humility, and commitment, opening our hearts to remember who we truly are and to reclaim the integrity of our being.

THE SPIRIT OF THE GRANDFATHER

Grandfather Wachuma is traditionally regarded as a sacred medicine of connection, grounding, and heart-opening. Within our ceremonial space, we approach this ancestral tradition with reverence, inviting stillness, reflection, and a deeper connection with ourselves, one another, and the natural world.

Our intention is to create a space where we can explore our inner landscapes with humility and acceptance, reconnect with the heart, and embrace the possibility of personal transformation.

In our ceremonies, we draw inspiration from the teachings of Tawantinsuyu and Q’ero Inka traditions, alongside the ancestral wisdom shared within our ceremonial lineage. These teachings invite us to return to Kay Pacha — the world of the present moment, where we can become more conscious of our choices and our relationship with life. Through the sacred Chakana, we explore the principles of balance, reciprocity, and harmony, learning to nurture the heart and bring greater equilibrium into our lives.

DANCE, MUSIC AND THE CELEBRATION OF LIFE

We invite dance and body movement as expressions of freedom, connection, and the rediscovery of our authentic selves. Through movement, we create space for the heart to express itself, the voice to awaken, and the mind to find moments of stillness. Together, we celebrate life, community, and our connection with the wider human and cosmic family. The spirit of Wachuma holds profound significance within Andean ceremonial traditions. Our gathering offers an opportunity for personal reflection, emotional exploration, and a deeper appreciation of our connection with ourselves, the Earth, and all living beings.

We invite everyone to arrive with an open heart, a willingness to learn, and the time and space to explore and rediscover themselves. Throughout the ceremony, we will be accompanied by powerful medicine songs inspired by the Peruvian Andes, shared by Illan Killa, Sofia Buchuck, and guest Peruvian musicians. Traditional panpipes, flutes, ancestral instruments, drums, and songs in Quechua and Aymara will create a rich musical landscape for our gathering.

Additional practices involving Rapé and Wilka will be discussed individually, with participation subject to informed consent, appropriate screening, and safety considerations.
